Emergency Department Flow Co-Ordinator Non-Clinical

We are looking for someone who has the passion and drive to support our Clinical, Nursing colleagues and our patients by providing proactive administrative support in our remarkably busy, friendly Emergency Department.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated collaborator, a good team player, organised, flexible and at the same time be able to maintain diligence and attention to detail in an often extremely busy, fast paced working environment.
You must be adaptable and willing to take on various tasks and duties, which at times can vary according to the daily needs of the Emergency Department and Unplanned Care Pathways.
The overall aim of this post is to offer the highest level of care to our patients by supporting the Clinicians, Nursing, and the multi-disciplinary staff groups to improve the patient experience and flow throughout the Emergency Department and Unplanned pathways.

Main duties of the job
The Flow Coordinator is an exciting, fast-paced role working with a broad range of colleagues in a busy Emergency Department. The role is a key, integral member of the multidisciplinary teams, assisting the Nurse in Charge and the daily Lead Consultant in ensuring the smooth timely flow of patients across the Unplanned and Emergency Pathways.
The Flow Co-Ordinator role acts as the first point of escalation for the clinical teams in managing flow throughout the Department.
To assist and support the Clinical, Nursing, and Operations Teams within the Emergency Department (ED) in managing efficient, safe, and timely patient flow through the department. Identifying, assisting, and mitigating in the resolution of patient pathway delays and bottlenecks in order to maintain and achieve the emergency access Key Performance indicators. Achieved by supporting and contributing to the Risk Management within the Emergency Department, by encouraging and supporting a proactive approach to patient flow at every stage of the patients journey from diagnosis to treatment, throughout the Emergency Department and the pathways.
Key working relationships: All staff within the multi-disciplinary team and all departments Trust wide as appropriate to the care of patients across Unplanned and Emergency Pathways.

- 5 x A-C grade GCSEs including Maths & English or equivalent
- NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Team Leading & Management or Business Admin/Customer Care/HNC in Business or Equivalent
- IT Literate - Advanced keyboard skills - ECDL or equivalent Excel Spreadsheets
- Experience of working within an Hospital Environment
- Knowledge of working with hospital Information Systems, Cerner and PACs
- Patient facing experience - Experience of dealing with difficult/distressed people & situations
