Job overview

Croydon University Hospital Breast Unit receives around 4500 referrals per year and on average diagnoses 250 cancers. The Breast Unit provides a comprehensive range of breast cancer treatments including a full range of oncoplastic techniques and an immediate and delayed breast reconstructive service. This is enhanced due to a strong partnership with the plastic surgery department at St George’s Hospital, London.

 The Breast Unit at Croydon has a comprehensive multidisciplinary team running both a weekly cancer and Benign MDMs. Oncology services are linked with The Royal Marsden, Sutton with an acute oncology service on site at Croydon. Croydon currently runs 15 clinics per week with a one stop service provided by the designated Bradbeer Breast Imaging Unit.

This post will support and develop new services within the breast unit and engage in providing a service to meet the demands of the local population.

 The successful applicant should have an audit and research portfolio, with an ongoing interest in expanding the portfolio and participation in clinical trial recruitment. They should also demonstrate management responsibilities and a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff.

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provide hospital and community services from a number of community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon.

These include:
• Croydon University Hospital
• Purley Hospital
• The Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre in Thornton Heath
• Community bases at Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodside
• A minor injuries unit in New Addington
