Fix Term - Maternity Leave Cover- Learning Disability Specialist Dietitian

  •        To work as an autonomous, specialist dietitian, managing a caseload of service users with learning disabilities.
  •        Provide assessment, treatment planning and provision for service users with complex nutritional and psychological needs.
  •        Provide input and dietetic cover as required across the trust including acute admissions to Croydon University Hospital
  •     To provide training to staff and service users and carers on nutritional issues relating to mental health and learning disabilities
  •        To lead on, planning, development and evaluation of the dietetic service for LD clients, holding responsibility for defined projects; working towards improved service quality across the Trust.
  •        To be responsible for a weekly general outpatient clinic.

  • To be responsible for specialist assessment and care planning of the nutritional needs of clients/ service users.
  •           To be responsible for a weekly general outpatient clinic.
  •           To provide evidence based dietetic intervention and monitor outcome.
  •           To participate in case programme approach, case conferences and MDT meetings.
  •           To assess learning needs, barriers, and educational ability of clients and carers to provide suitable diet plans, nutrition education and reference resources.
  •          To promote and participate in multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
  •          To empower individuals to make decisions about their own care and where possible supporting them to access relevant community and voluntary services.
  •           Working as an autonomous practitioner, undertake a differential diagnosis procedure.
  • Take into account complex information including a range of health and social care needs, patient activation, individual and family priorities, and risk factors when considering options for intervention.
  •           To communicate dietetic care plan in a way that is understood by the client, and their carer. 
    Up to date record keeping.
  •           To take the lead in providing highly specialist dietetic advice to the multidisciplinary team through attendance and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings.
  •        To fulfil any other duties delegated by the Professional Lead for Dietetics and Operational Lead for Community Learning Disability.

  • Registered as Dietitian with HCPC
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development

  • Completion of the BDA Dietetics in Learning Disabilities course

EXPERIENCE

  • Post graduate experience with experience working at specialist level
  • Experience of carrying a caseload of service users with complex and diverse with learning disability and/or mental health setting
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Evidence of working in a multi-cultural environment

  • Experience of the supervision of students and junior staff
  • Evidence of participation in audit/ research
  • Experience related to food provision and catering
  • Experience of working with children and/ or adolescents
