8a Modality Lead Sonographer – Antenatal Ultrasound

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated, dynamic, and experienced Sonographer to join our friendly department at Croydon University Hospital. This is a new role and we are looking for candidates who are keen to progress and develop their leadership and management skills whilst providing clinical leadership to sonographers.

The successful candidate will lead the operational services for the Antenatal Ultrasound department and will be expected to help ensure the service delivered is safe and well led.

Organisational and leadership skills are important for this role, as the successful candidate will co-ordinate the day-to-day running of the ultrasound service and manage staff by progressing their training and development. We would welcome applications from candidates who are new to management roles and are keen to develop in this area.

Croydon University Hospital is a large urban DGH situated in South London, serving the needs of a diverse population of 360,000. It has one of the busiest Emergency Departments in London. Croydon has easy access to both central London and the south coast. It also offers a huge range of social, leisure and shopping venues, with excellent transport links to both Gatwick and Heathrow airports.

Main duties of the job

Job Summary

The post-holder will assume day to day organisation of the staff at both Croydon University Hospital and our Community Diagnostic Sites.
The post holder will provide leadership and direct line management to Sonographers & Helpers, in collaboration with the other Lead Radiographers and Sonographers with support from the Head of
Radiology and Deputy Head of Radiology.

The post holder will lead on the investigation of patient complaints and incidents, the drafting of responses and devising and implementing any associated action plans. The post holder will lead on the recruitment and retention of staff within their modality and for rotational staff within the department and will assist recruitment for other modalities.
