Job overview

Interview date: 10th August 2026

Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist post, with an interest in Musculoskeletal imaging.

This post results from a combination of expansion of service and evolving developments in the related clinical disciplines including orthopaedics, rheumatology and physiotherapy.  This is a substantive consultant post.

Croydon Healthcare NHS Trust (CHS) is a busy DGH with a strong and developing musculoskeletal regional network and the current service links with all aspects of general musculoskeletal work including spinal surgery, bone health and local sarcoma services.

Main duties of the job

The MSK radiologist consultant post is full-time, comprising a strong musculoskeletal component as well as general radiology in the main department. There are currently four Consultant MSK Radiologists, three full time and one part time commitment.

The post will include provision for diagnostic and interventional MSK and general cross sectional reporting (including acute and cold reporting), ultrasound and musculoskeletal intervention (including guided injections, arthrograms, hydrodilatations and biopsies).   Participation in MDTs including sarcoma, musculoskeletal and trauma/orthopaedic meetings will be encouraged.   There may be opportunity to further expand the service, for example setting up a guided PRP injection service in collaboration with orthopaedics.

All consultant radiologists have access to home working capability.

Working for our organisation

Croydon Health Services provides integrated NHS services to care for people at home, in schools, and health clinics across the borough as well as at Croydon University Hospital, Purley War Memorial Hospital and the new Community Diagnostic Centre in New Addington.

CUH provides more than 100 specialist services and is home to the borough’s only Emergency Department and 24/7 maternity services, including a labour ward, midwifery-led birth centre and the Crocus home birthing team.

Purley War Memorial Hospital in the south of the borough offers outpatient care, including diagnostic services, physiotherapy and ophthalmology services run by Moorfields Eye Hospital, alongside an onsite GP surgery.

The New Addington site is based in the south-eastern side of the borough and offers outpatient and GP imaging in x-ray, ultrasound and CT, alongside various respiratory and cardiology outpatient services, alongside an onsite GP surgery.

The Radiology Department is undergoing significant investment in new equipment, with 14 new ultrasound units, a Cone Beam CT dental unit, plain x-ray room and a CT replacement all occurring this year.

We are a very close-knit and friendly organisation where each one of our 3600 members of staff is valued. We strongly believe that our employees are our greatest asset.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
