Croydon Health Services NHS Trust is seeking skilled and compassionate Band 5 Registered Nurses to strengthen our clinical Rheumatology team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care that meets the individual needs of the designated patient population.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing safe, compassionate, and professional nursing care in line with Trust policies and NMC standards
  • Being accountable for the delivery of care to a defined group of patients
  • Organising and managing own workload 
  • Actively contributing to teaching, learning, and education programmes for staff and patient
  • Make clinical decisions on treatment adjustments, flare management, and symptom control (escalating when appropriate).
  • Supporting a positive learning environment and promoting continuous improvement in care delivery

Please note that there will be manual handling involved with this post - staff will be expected to consistently support patients within the clinic environment, including assisting patients on and off examination couches, pushing wheelchairs, and supporting patients with mobility to and from clinic rooms.

  • Currently registered with the NMC
  • Demonstrates understanding of NMC code of professional conduct
  • Actively engaged in CPD – must list activities in the last year to be shortlisted

Skills

  • Demonstrates understanding of clinical supervision including supporting learners
  • Demonstrated excellent time management with workload prioritisation
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills across disciplines

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the key professional issues in nursing and healthcare
  • Experience of working in an acute care setting
  • Able to identify own training and development needs
  • Able to make decisions and prioritise care/service delivery
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of infection control standards
