Job overview

The Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) for Colposcopy +/- Vulval Services at Chase Farm Hospital, provides expert clinical care, support and advice for women undergoing assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up for cervical and vulval conditions. Working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will deliver nurse-led clinics, coordinate patient pathways, provide specialist counselling and education, and act as a key advocate for patients throughout their care journey. The role also contributes to service development, quality improvement, education, audit, and governance activities to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job

The Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide expert nursing care within Colposcopy and Vulval Services, managing patient pathways, delivering nurse-led clinics, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and providing specialist support and education to patients. The post holder will contribute to service development, quality improvement, clinical governance, audit, teaching and research, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care.

Education and Professional Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse and Valid NMC registration
  • Degree Holder or equivalent qualification, training or experience
  • BSCCP Accreditation
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching or mentorship qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant women's health /gynae experience
  • Demonstrates experience in providing patient education and counselling
  • Experience in running nurse led clinics

Skills and Aptitudes

  • Specialist knowledge of colposcopy pathways
  • Demonstrates excellent clinical assessment and decision making skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent communication skills
