Job overview
The post holder will provide specialist Post Covid and Post Infection Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention with a personalised care approach within the Post Covid and Post Infection service within the borough of Enfield. The post holder will assist in continuing to develop this specialist area of the team and provide the Occupational Therapy intervention for this group of patients accepted into the service.
The post will be an evolving one and there will be some opportunity to support the operational and Clinical lead in continuing to develop the pathway so will involve both clinical and service development opportunities.
Main duties of the job
To encourage and enable a personalised care approach for patients with Post Covid and Post Infection to identify what matters most to them, utilising a wide range of assessment and intervention skills including activity analysis, collaborative goal setting, pain and fatigue strategies such as pacing and grading. The patient may have complex medical, cognitive and psychological presentations and needs, and the Occupational Therapist will be required have a wide knowledge and experience of medical, respiratory, neurological, cognitive and mental health conditions.
To provide expert advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, carers, relatives and others. To undertake all aspects of clinical responsibilities as a skilled, autonomous and advanced practitioner managing a diverse and complex caseload requiring high levels of problem solving, clinical reasoning skills and exercising independence of judgment alongside the patient to empower and encourage self-management using up to date information and modifying approach to support the patient’s personalised plan.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1.1 The Post Holder will provide highly complex and specialist assessments and interventions which promote optimum recovery using a personalised care approach to support patients to achieve their goals, addressing physical and emotional well-being needs - ensuring that a high-quality holistic service is delivered in an area with a fast developing evidence base.
1.2 To determine the most appropriate setting for assessment and or treatment e.g. community, clinic, home.
1.3 To be responsible for organising and planning workload and manging caseload to meet service and patient priorities, readjusting plans as situations develop.
1.4 Make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about functional, cognitive, emotional well-being, motor and social recovery with a focus on fatigue management and enhanced coping strategies.
1.5 Use evidence-based practice and client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
1.6 To demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning skills, experience and knowledge of evidence-based practice to determine treatment plan using a wide range of treatment skills and options.
1.7 To be able to identify own professional limitations and seek professional advice when necessary.
1.8 To undertake responsibility and leadership for completion and implementation of clinical projects, audit or research.

Essential criteria
- • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy and on the HCPC Registration
- • Evidence of attendance on post-graduate courses and advanced training to Masters level equivalence or equivalent experience
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Extensive experience working within related field of physical or mental health recovery and rehabilitation
- • Experience of working within healthcare systems, pathways and services
- • Experience of conducting formal and informal teaching
- • Inter-professional and multi-agency team working
- • Experience of delivering and interpreting a broad range of standardised and non- standardised assessments
Skills and aptitudes
Essential criteria
- • Professional confidence to represent OT and Post Covid syndrome service in meetings
- • Ability to use highly specialised clinical reasoning skills to facilitate appropriate pathway management to maximise patient independence and functional ability
- • Advanced assessment and intervention skills relevant to the clinical setting
- • Must be able to present complex and sensitive information to large and influential groups
- • Ability to negotiate on difficult and controversial issues when required.
