Job overview

This post will be based at Chase Farm Hospital

Schedule: 37.5 Hours per week (7.5-hour shifts, Monday to Friday – you may be required to work some weekends/Bank Holiday - working within a rota)

We are looking for someone to work as an admissions administrator within a busy clinical area at Chase Farm Hospital. You would be responsible for providing a front-line reception service to the Chase Farm chemotherapy unit by delivering a high standard of customer care to a wide range of client groups including: the ward’s multi-disciplinary team, patients, relatives and their carers.

The post-holder must play a proactive role in collecting, verifying, and recording a high standard of patient demographic and treatment data.  

The post holder would need to ensure that all patient admissions, discharges, and attendances are recorded accurately.  

The successful candidate us required to be able to demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.  In particular you should have proven experience of working in a public/patient facing role and have clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.  The successful candidate would also need to have the ability to use their own initiative and be able to problem solve in a clinical environment.   

Main duties of the job

To provide a front of house reception service for patients or relatives arriving on the unit, welcoming all visitors and directing as appropriate.  Main tasks of this role are as follows:

Answering telephones and responding to patient/clinician queries
Ensuring the bed boards are up to date
Organising transport bookings,
Providing weekly and monthly activity figures with the unit
To provide a confidential and high standard  general administrative support to the unit
Ensuring that all patient admissions, discharges and attendances are recorded accurately on Cerner or the relevant electronic system in real time
Handling incoming/outgoing post and distribute or act as necessary
Any other necessary administrative responsibilities for the unit as and when required
