Job overview

Operating daily from the NELFT Supply Chain Distribution Centre in Brentwood, Essex, you will provide comprehensive and confidential support to the Supply Chain Business Partner, covering all aspects of administrative, organisational and project management support to ensure the smooth running of the Supply Chain Distribution Centre operations, systems and processes.

The post holder will be responsible for the effective management of Supply Chain services in relation to fleet vehicle management, health & safety and movement of materials from source to all areas currently serviced. 

You must have knowledge of vehicle fleet management and routing, awareness warehouse health & safety processes, be trained in the use of electronic manual handling equipment, knowledge of health & safety risk assessment processes.

 

Main duties of the job

·         To provide comprehensive and confidential support to the Supply Chain Business Partner, covering all aspects of administrative, organisational and project management support to ensure the smooth running of the Supply Chain Distribution Centre operations, systems and processes.

·         To be responsible for the effective management of Supply Chain services in relation to fleet vehicle management, health & safety, and movement of materials from source to all areas currently serviced. 

·         To be responsible for ensuring services are managed professionally and making suggestions for improvement, implementing new techniques or procedures, organising work schedules and manpower, developing new work models and training staff to carry out their duties, in addition to managing personal development to achieve standards as required by national and trust guidelines.

·         The post holder will use their reason, intellect and judgement to work on their own initiative, be able to prioritise their own workload whilst responding to interruptions, and deal with matters on behalf of the Supply Chain Business Partner.

·         The post holder will consistently deliver a client-focused service which promotes good customer service and effective working relationships.  This will involve dealing with general queries from colleagues/members of the public, either face to face, over the phone and overseeing administrative systems and processes.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject or with significant equivalent experience
  • Good standard of education, GCSE or equivalent including English & Mathematics
  • Valid driving licence qualification to reflect B entitlement and ability to drive manual cars, vans, and large 3.5 tonne vans in the UK.
Desirable criteria
  • Working towards a professional qualification in the Institute of Supply Chain Management (IOSCM) or the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Reach Truck qualification (RTITB) accredited or equivalent
  • Racking safety awareness course (SEMA approved or equivalent)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience in team leadership, providing supervision to a team within a warehouse, supply chain, or logistics environment.
  • Experience with transport and fleet management systems and practices within a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • Experience in distribution and transport planning.
  • Strong IT skills and excellent working knowledge of various MS packages.
  • Experience of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and/or Inventory Management Systems (IMS).
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of root cause analysis.
  • Experience in reporting and data analysis management.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Awareness of NHS priorities.
  • Fleet vehicle management – knowledge of vehicle maintenance, schedules, fleet tracking systems, and fuel efficiency practices – focus on NHS Greener Stnadards, Net Zero.
  • Environmental compliance – working within NHS England’s Net Zero Travel & Transport Strategy and Greener NHS Framework.
  • Knowledge of route optimisation systems.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. Drivers’ Working Hours, Health and Safety Regulations, Road Traffic legislation.
  • Use of GPS tracking, dispatch software and data analytics tools for performance monitoring.
  • Logistics and Supply Chain Principles – insight into route planning, inventory and systems management.
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of Health & Safety Executive (HSE) – understanding risk assessment processes.
