Band 5 Occupational Therapist Mixed Rotation

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our mixed rotation. North East London is a great place to live and work - thriving communities with an abundance of amenities and good transport links. The Mixed Rotation includes inpatient and community posts within Physical Health and Mental Health Services.

Currently included in the rotation:

  • Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (Physical Health)
  • Community Rehabilitation Service (Physical Health)
  • Acute Adult Mental Health Service (Mental Health)
  • Adult Early intervention in Psychosis (Mental Health)
  • Mental Health Wellbeing Team (Mental Health)
  • Frailty Mental Health Ward (Mental Health)

Main duties of the job

Occupational Therapists work as integrated members of multi-disciplinary teams contributing their unique professional skills, supporting service users to increase their independence and achieve their personal goals. All occupational therapists receive professional supervision from a Senior O.T.

The Band 5 Occupational Therapy (OT) Rotation provides you with the opportunity to work across a number of specialities, developing a range of skills in posts within mental health and physical health.

Our multidisciplinary preceptorship programme supports new graduates to transition from student to professional. You will get a shared learning experience with other AHPs and Nursing staff to support and guide you in the early stage of your career. 

Working for our organisation

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary  period or currently a bank member of staff). 

High Cost Area Supplement - London

This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).

  • Evidence of post-registration Training /qualification and continued CPD

Experience

  • Completed NHS placements
  • Working with clients and families
  • OT process

  • Relevant work experience in Health or Social Care - eg rehab assistant / support worker

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of OT assessments and interventions - able to apply this knowledge in a broad range of settings.
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of and application of Evidenced Based Practice

Skills

  • Effective communication skills with clients, carers and staff
