An exciting opportunity has arisen for band 4 Senior Phlebotomists to join our NELF T  South West Essex community phlebotomy team.  We are looking to recruit experienced Phlebotomists to deputise for our Clinical Phlebotomy Leads.  We require staff who can work in our busy fast paced service and enthusiastic individuals to join our team. The successful applicant must be flexible, a good team worker and be able to communicate effectively with patients, carers and other members team.

Main duties of the job

Your responsibilities will include leading on providing a domiciliary service, supervising the CDC phlebotomy service, training staff on venepuncture skills and help support with day to day line management of band 3 phlebotomists.

We currently run phlebotomy clinics in multiple locations in South West Essex, as well as the domiciliary service

Working for our organisation

Starting with NELFT  

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

 

Probationary Period 

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

 

High-Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735) pro rata for part time staff.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Accredited Qualification in Venepuncture
  • Basic First Aid Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of supervising and training junior staff
  • Experience of Phlebotomy including Domiciliary experience
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of overseeing/ managing health services

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to understand office procedures and work on own initiative within appropriate guidelines
  • Have a working understanding of general Phlebotomy principles

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work without a high level of supervision
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
  • Good IT skills and documenting

Other

Essential criteria
  • A U.K drivers licence and the ability to use a car on a daily basis. The vehicle must have Business insurance which includes the transportation of bloods/specimens
