This post is located in the community at the Hackney Ark which is a service that provides multidisciplinary support to children with developmental delay and and disability; providing services to families living in Hackney and the City of London.

 The Information and Advice officer will be based in the Resource centre which is a forward thinking, welcoming advice, information and support service based within the Hackney Ark

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good general education to 5 GCSE level including English and Math or equivalent RSA III Pitman
  • Advanced Key board understanding IT - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook qualifications or experience,
Desirable criteria
  • Certificate in European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or willing to attain qualification.

Skills/ Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Excellent negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Personal rapport and an ability to develop good working relationships with other professionals from various backgrounds and organisations, families and children.
  • Good listening skills and ability to sympathise and empathise with parents and professionals in relation to difficult and sensitive matters
  • Calm under pressure.
  • Ability to resolve administrative and support problems and reply to correspondence on behalf of team members.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with an ability to prioritise.
  • Able to work on own initiative, make decisions and to work without direct supervision where necessary.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in an administrative or office environment, of working as a team member in a multidisciplinary team, use of a range of computer software packages, and previous NHS experience

  • Patient administration experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • In-depth knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to children’s and adults services
  • In-depth knowledge of role of other professionals and services.
  • Understanding of the principles of clinical governance /audit
  • Knowledge of standards of record keeping
  • Knowledge/understanding of confidentiality issues
Desirable criteria
  • Database management Knowledge.
