Job overview
We are looking to recruit a Patient Pathway Coordinator to join our Patient Administration Team, supporting the delivery of safe, timely, and efficient elective care pathways.
The post holder will be responsible for managing surgical patient pathways, working closely with clinical teams to ensure theatre lists are fully utilised and patients progress through their pathway in line with RTT and local Trust requirements. This includes allocating and managing designated specialities, coordinating bookings, and proactively addressing capacity or pathway issues.
You will work closely with Surgeons, Clinical Services, Theatre Teams, and Operational Managers, contributing to effective list utilisation and ensuring patients are treated within national waiting time standards. The role requires flexibility, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a fast‑paced, high‑volume team environment.
Main duties of the job
Key requirements include:
- Strong working knowledge of RTT rules, admitted pathways, and Patient Tracking Lists (PTL)
- Experience of managing surgical booking processes and coordinating theatre capacity
- Ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively, including inboxes and competing tasks
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with clinicians and services
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving pathway risks and potential breaches
