Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic Pharmacist to join our team to lead the operational management of our  pharmacy services.

As the Principal pharmacist, Operations you will be responsible for the operational delivery of the pharmacy service . There are lots of exciting projects on the horizon so we are looking for someone who has a proven track record of operational delivery and the ability to review our current systems and services. 

As we work closer with our local partners in the ICS you will support planning the future of pharmacy services in North West London

As a member of the Pharmacy Senior Leadership team, you will support the development of the Pharmacy vision and strategy for the Trust.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead on the operational delivery of Pharmacy services across the sites 
  • Responsible for developing Pharmacy service in line with the national workforce development plan and the needs of the Trust
  • Responsible for the Pharmacy budget relating to the operational services, and the corresponding payroll and health roster 
  • Responsible for adherence to the governance framework including investigating medication-related incidents and completing all medicines management audits 
  • Manages and develops strategic relationships with the site Executive and the North West London ICS.
  • Responsible for the provision of effective and efficient pharmacy dispensary and distribution services, including remote dispensary services, to meet the needs of the hospitals 
  • Working with the Divisional Finance team to proactively manage the operational budget
  • Overall responsibility for the management, recruitment, training and appraisal of all pharmacy staff working within the pharmacy department
  • Member of the Pharmacy Senior Leadership Team

Essential criteria
  • GPhC Registered Pharmacist
  • Postgraduate Qualification in management or specialist area or relevant management experience
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of running a high quality pharmacy service
  • Extensive experience of developing pharmacy services, either clinical or operational, to improve delivery and workflow Medicines Optimisation Strategy and delivery plans of a Pharmacy Department.
  • Demonstrates strategic planning skills

  • Experience of managing a similar service
