We are looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Podiatrist – Diabetes (Band 7) to join our Community Podiatry Service in Harrow.

This is an exciting opportunity for a podiatrist with specialist expertise in diabetes, high-risk foot care, wound management and peripheral vascular disease to take on a senior clinical role within our service.

As a Specialist Podiatrist, you will work across community services, providing high-quality specialist assessment, treatment and management for patients with complex and high-risk foot conditions. You will work closely with colleagues across community, primary and acute care, helping to strengthen relationships between services and support effective, streamlined diabetic foot pathways.

We are looking for someone who can work confidently and autonomously while contributing positively to the wider multidisciplinary team. You will bring strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills, excellent communication and a commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based and person-centred care.

Main duties of the job

As a Specialist Podiatrist in Diabetes, you will

• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management for patients with complex diabetic and high-risk foot conditions, including wounds and peripheral vascular disease

• Manage an autonomous specialist caseload, using advanced clinical reasoning to develop evidence-based, person-centred treatment plans and reduce the risk of deterioration, ulceration and amputation

• Work collaboratively across community, primary and acute care services to support effective diabetic foot pathways and ensure patients receive timely, coordinated care

• Provide specialist advice and clinical expertise to podiatry colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team, supporting the management of complex patients

• Identify and appropriately escalate patients requiring urgent intervention or referral to specialist multidisciplinary diabetic foot services

• Contribute to the development and improvement of podiatry services through clinical audit, evidence-based practice, quality improvement and service evaluation

• Support, supervise and mentor junior podiatrists, students and other members of the team, promoting learning and professional development

• Educate and empower patients to understand their condition, recognise risks and participate in the management of their foot health

• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure practice is delivered in line with professional standards, local policies and clinical governance requirements
