Central London Community Heath NHS Trust is responsible for delivering Brent Adult and Children’s Community services. We are now seeking a Band 7 Lead Specialist Podiatrist MSK
The Podiatry Service within the Outer North West Division is introducing new ways of working, with transformation plans to further embed into the neighbourhood structure with a focus on population health.
You will provide day-to-day leadership to the team of Podiatrists in a supported environment and within a dynamic team. Providing clinical care alongside your leadership portfolio, you will ensure the needs of patients are placed at the centre of care delivery while providing assurance that standards of clinical care within a designated area is of the highest standard attainable.
You will need to demonstrate empathy and compassionate leadership skills alongside excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to teach and inspire colleagues through active demonstration of clinical practice and leadership. At the same time being willing to learn and develop within this role.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has the drive to deliver the above within a well-established Clinical Service Unit that is aligning with the new direction of the Integrated Care Boards and the neighbourhood structure.

Main duties of the job
- To be responsible for the operational management and day to day running of the podiatry service within an identified locality within the ICB.
- To work jointly with the podiatry leadership team in ensuring the service meets trust and commissioner set key performance indicators and standards.
- The post holder is expected be an experienced practitioner aware of the full scope of clinical practice and expected to support and supervise colleagues and team members.
- To ensure the efficient and cost-effective processes and ways of working are in place.
- To oversee the line management and coordination of supervision and rotations to ensure these are being undertaken appropriately.
- You will be expected to carry at least a 60% clinical caseload and will be supported with a job plan.

Education/Qualification
Essential criteria
- BSc Degree In Podiatric Medicine or Diploma (if qualified prior 1991)
- Evidence of continual professional and personal development
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
- Certificate in local anesthesia
- Evidence or Portfolio of Post Grad Continued Development to masters or master’s accredited level with some development in podiatric specialism
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in an NHS environment
- Experience of multidisciplinary and interagency working
- Experience of working with a wide range of patient and disease / pathology types including the at-risk and high-risk foot
- Experience of resource or budgetary management
- Experience of management and leadership
- Experience of planning and implementing service development
- Experience of planning and delivering clinical supervision / mentoring
- Experience of initiating and implementing change within a team environment
- Experience of managing conflict
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Effective oral, listening and written communication to negotiate and persuade patients and carers gaining compliance and commitment to their treatment and care plans.
- Ability to listen to and evaluate staff needs
- Good presentation skills necessary as an educational tool to promote the service support service developments with both the service staff and external partners
- Ability to analyse staff and service problems and needs, proposing and implementing rational solutions
- Ability to undertake intricate work in using sensitive diagnostic tools and a range of surgical instruments. e.g. in the management and debridement of poor tissue viability wounds and nail surgery
- Ability to plan and organise the work of individuals and teams to support the clinical rotation program and to provide adequate service cover, ability to organise staff timetables and student placements
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance and its influence on Service Development
- Knowledge of NICE Guidelines and the NSF’s
- Knowledge of Society Guidelines and Code of Conduct
