An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Chemotherapy Day Unit Department for a highly efficient administrator who can support the patient flow through the Day Unit. We are looking for an individual who is flexible and enthusiastic as well as being resourceful. You will be able support the day unit with a range of administrative duties which include; admissions, discharges, waiting list entries on CERNER and manage new referrals to the service which includes; booking appointments etc You will need to have experience of managing all office based administration, including effective and appropriate letter skills. Possess excellent customer services skills including telephone and face to face contact with service users. You should have the ability to think calmly and logically under pressure and have a positive attitude to maintaining high standards at all times. You will be quick to learn, be able to work as part of a team and also possess the ability to work unsupervised using your own initiative. If you have proven experience of working under pressure, this busy fast paced role could be the job for you. |
The chemotherapy service administrator is an integral member of the Macmillan Chemotherapy Unit Team.
Working under the supervision of the Day Unit Manager the post holder will coordinate all administrative aspects of
the day care service including data collection, reception and clerical duties.
Main duties of the job
· Manage new referral in timely manner facilitating access to clinical investigations as needed
· Scheduling of patient’s chemotherapy appointments
· Provide a reception service including greeting visitors and patients and advising appropriate nursing team of arrival
· Prepare, run and cash up clinics and ensure that all case notes, test results, x-rays, report etc. are available before the commencement of daily service.
· Manage waiting list entries and bookings for the service

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Good standard of education including GCSE equivalent in Maths and English
Desirable criteria
- • NVQ level 3 in customer care or equivalent
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- • Minimum 6 months experience in healthcare environment
- • Understanding of working with patients who are chronically ill
- • Experience of using spreadsheet
- • Software and databases
- • Experience in patient administrator system(CERNER)
Desirable criteria
- • Chemotherapy scheduling experience
