Job overview
This is a permanent role which will provide support to the Financial Control and Treasury department.
The post holder will provide a high-quality cashiering service to patients, staff and customers, and deal with patient fares and patient’s property in accordance with agreed principles. This function is essential in helping to ensure the Trust has sufficient cash to meet financial liabilities.
They will also support the Capital and Financial Accounting team in carrying out a range of financial accounting duties to ensure that the general ledger is accounted for promptly and accurately in line with Standing Financial Instructions.
Main duties of the job
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide a personal service to staff and patients for the issuing of petty cash, patient’s fares and minor staff reimbursements and ensure the Trust records are updated in a timely and accurate manner.
· Deal with patients from overseas, when accepting income from chargeable patients.
· Responsible for contacting the Trust’s bankers in the course of obtaining authorisation for payments made by credit / debit cards.
· Responsible for recording details of all receipts and payments made by the Cashiers office, onto the Trust’s financial ledger systems.
· Responsible for receipting and banking Trust income and prepares documentation in preparation for submission to the bank.
· Prepare and distribute manual cheques in respect of Salaries and Wages payments, and creditor payments which are considered urgent.
· To assist with audits being conducted in the Financial Accounting office and contribute to the implementation of recommendations made.
· To perform calculations and verifying authorisation on the reimbursement of petty cash and ensuring that VAT is calculated correctly on all cashiering transactions.
· Provide cover for all cashier sites within the Trust as and when required.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to NVQ level 4 standard
- 5 GCSEs including Maths and English or equivalent qualification
- Passed the ECDL modules or comparable experience
Desirable criteria
- ● Studying towards AAT/CCAB
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience working in a financial environment
- Knowledge of accounting procedures
- Experience of working to tight deadlines
- Experienceof computerised accounting systems
