Job overview
To supervise a team of Schedulers, providing leadership, expertise with the information systems, and participating in the full range of activities within the department including own scheduling remit.
The role involves working with a multi-disciplinary team in a very busy office environment, dealing with highly complex and sensitive issues, often requiring appropriate judgements to be made under minimal supervision.
The post holder will be required to work with Senior Management to support the Scheduling service within the Gynaecology department in providing effective day-to-day operational management and service improvement.
Main duties of the job
Supervising the schedulers, ensuring theatre lists are fully utilised and
prepared properly.
Working with the line manager to implementing new processes in the working
environment to improve the service.
Ensure data entry and retrieval are accurate and that staff are appropriately
trained.
Monitor all leave including sick leave and take action as appropriate.
Applying excellent communication skills to relay information and issues to
your team.
Ensure staff appropriate training and updates in customer care, mandatory
training, and IT systems.
Attend meetings and disseminating information.
Develop key relationships with staff both within the local teams but also in the
wider organisation, to ensure the patient pathway is as swift and effective as
possible in relation to the clinical needs, while delivering an exceptional
patient experience.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE's grade C and above, including English or Mathematics
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of some formal further training in administrative short courses
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in an administrative/scheduling role
- Experience of working in a patient focused, or customer service role, preferably within health or social care
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of supervision of staff/team members
Skills
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and all Trust’s IT systems.
- Ability to work methodically in a busy environment and meet deadlines
Desirable criteria
- Previous scheduling experience on Cerner
