Job overview
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our well-established and friendly nurse-led team at the Hayes Renal Satellite Unit. Located on a tree-lined street opposite the Beck Theatre in Hayes, our purpose-built haemodialysis unit features 24 stations and offers free staff parking.
We operate Monday to Saturday, from 07:00 to 23:30, with a range of shift patterns including long and short day shifts, as well as twilight shifts. The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work across all shift types to meet service needs.
No prior haemodialysis experience is required—we provide comprehensive on-site training. As part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, staff also benefit from access to a wide range of training and development opportunities.
Main duties of the job
- Welcome and escort patients from the waiting area into the dialysis unit.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living in accordance with their plan of care.
- Promote, monitor and maintain a working environment that is safe and clean for attending patients and staff.
- Promote, monitor and maintain the safety and security of the ward environment and promptly report faulty equipment to registered nurse according to ward policy and procedure.
- To use effective communication skills with staff, patients, relatives and visitors ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- Attend ward handover and staff meetings and make valuable contributions towards the smooth running of the clinical area.
- Participate in the ordering and stock control of unit supplies, maintain appropriate records.
- Ensure the safety of the ward stock, by receiving and storing them in a manner and place that will protect them from damage.
- To attend Trust mandatory training and 2 yearly updates, in accordance with policy and procedure.
