Job overview

To be a member of the Reporting Radiographer Team involved with providing and developing the radiographer plain Imaging reporting service.
To participate in the radiographic rotation through general imaging areas, ensuring that a high quality imaging service is provided. 
To support the day to day organisation of the department in conjunction with the Lead Radiographers and multidisciplinary staff

Main duties of the job

1.    To provide a report based on Radiological findings, suggesting a diagnosis or differential diagnosis and advising follow up where necessary.
2.    The post holder will take responsibility for approving all reports ensuring accuracy and timeliness. All reports will be available on the Electronic Patient Record and PACS Systems.
3.    To work with the Lead Reporting Radiographer and Radiologists to ensure the provision of the Plain Imaging Reporting Service is maintained to high quality standards, ensuring accuracy and efficiency at all times.
4.    To provide feedback on Chest image reporting and establish quality standards.
5.    Attend and arrange clinical meetings where appropriate.
6.    To liaise effectively with clinical and nursing staff from other disciplines as necessary, acting as initial point of contact for them as required.
7.    To actively and continually audit the accuracy of the reporting service provided.
8.    To undertake teaching and assessment in plain imaging radiography reporting within Radiology, and the wider Trust Staff and AHP and groups when required.
9.    To supervise and sign off reports for Chest Reporting trainees and SpRs on rotation when required.

Education & Qualification

Essential criteria
  • BSc Radiography or Diploma of the College of Radiographers or recognised equivalent
  • Post graduate Reporting Qualification in Chest
Desirable criteria
  • MSc Post graduate Reporting Qualification in axial and/or appendicular

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Leadership experience and ability to work as a team member
  • To be able to cope single handed, manage own workload, prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Understanding of Audit and its role in the plain film reporting service
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching skills

  • Extensive experience in plain imaging and reporting
  • Organising workloads and staffing to cope with changes in service
  • Dynamic, motivated and proactive and an ability to problem solve
