Specialty Doctor
Specialty Doctor
West London NHS Trust provides a full range of mental health, community and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.
We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.
Job overview
We are excited to invite applications for a full‑time SAS Doctor (Psychiatry) to join our Hounslow Central MINT team, funded through our local transformation program. In this role you will bring specialist psychiatric skills to a PCN‑based, multidisciplinary community mental health service — working alongside a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist in each Primary Care Network and forging close partnerships with GPs. Our Hounslow model adopts a whole‑person, whole‑population approach: integrating health and social care, collaborating with VCSE organisations and local community groups, and drawing on all available resources to support mental wellbeing both within and beyond traditional NHS services.
Main duties of the job
The successful SAS Doctor will join our Hounslow Central MINT integrated community mental health team. You will work alongside a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist and local GPs to deliver a fully integrated, stepped‑care service. For most patients, you will deploy a primary‑care ethos—conducting assessments, formulating management plans and monitoring progress—while patients with more complex needs will benefit from enhanced, clinician‑led interventions and close collaboration with the wider MDT. Your role will encompass consultation and liaison with GPs, primary care services, the Crisis Team, the Early Intervention in Psychosis Service and other specialist mental health teams, as well as direct patient contact for complex case reviews and crisis prevention. You will also work in partnership with voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations and local community groups to ensure a whole‑person, whole‑population approach to mental wellbeing.
We are looking for dynamic clinicians with at least five years’ experience in mental health services, who combine excellent clinical skills with enthusiasm for leadership, mentorship and continuous service improvement. You should be an effective communicator, committed to community‑based care, and adept at working flexibly and collaboratively within a multi‑professional team.
