Exciting Opportunity: Band 6 Occupational Therapist – Intensive Rehabilitation Service (IRS)

 

The IRS is a well-established, multidisciplinary community team comprising Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Rehabilitation Assistants. We provide an innovative alternative to hospital-based rehabilitation, enabling patients to recover in the comfort of their own homes.

Working closely with inpatient rehabilitation services and acute care partners, the IRS facilitates early supported discharges and delivers intensive, person-centred rehabilitation programmes in the community. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced, collaborative setting where your contribution will make a real difference to patient outcomes.

Main duties of the job

The role will require the successful candidate to work as part of the team based in the community setting but with interface with other NELFT services and external stakeholders to ensure service delivery is of a high quality and provided 365 days per year. 

As part of the Intensive Rehabilitation service we can offer you:

  • Regular clinical  and managerial supervision
  • A programme of  In-service training including journal club
  • Training and development opportunities

The post holder will utilise a range of skills and experience gained in clinical practice to perform a specialist, comprehensive assessments using clinical reasoning skills and assessment techniques to formulate a treatment plan based on clinical findings. Excellent communication skills are essential as well as good knowledge of current OT best practice and the ability to work as an effective team member across multi-professional team.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.  All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.  The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time).
