With the recent re-designation of our neonatal service from a Level 1 Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) to a Level 2 Local Neonatal Unit (LNU) — a significant milestone that reflects both the growth in activity at our site and our commitment to delivering high‑quality care closer to home for local families — this is a truly exciting time to join our team. You’ll be at the heart of a specialist service that plays a key role in women’s health and paediatrics. Your clinical insight will directly influence the safe, effective and evidence‑based use of medicines across the Directorate.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide and manage pharmaceutical services to the Women & Children Directorate in accordance with the needs of the Division. Along with working with senior clinicians on determining medicines related cost pressures for the Women & Children Directorate. The post holder will also monitor and review prescribing practice within the Women & Children Directorate and to work with clinicians to ensure effective, safe, evidence based and cost effective prescribing.

Essential and desirable
Essential criteria
- Vocational master’s degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent) + completion of pre-registration training
- Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain
- Postgraduate diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent general experience)
- Significant specialist experience in delivering Paediatric (or neonatal) services at an advanced level of practice
- Significant specialist experience in delivering maternity services at an advanced level of practice
- Experience of delivering education and training at a post-graduate level
- Supervision of others
Desirable criteria
- Registered independent Pharmacist prescriber
- Clinical Audit to improve practice
- Staff management
- TPN
- Education and Training in a multidisciplinary environment
