Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader with strong nursery management experience, excellent organisational skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding early years care and education. To manage the day to day operation and organisation of the nursery, and to ensuring the smooth running of the nursery setting in accordance with agreed policy and procedures and to promote a good parent staff relationships. Checking the premises regularly and ensuring all safeguarding requirements are adhered to.
Shift times will be 9am-17.30pm Mon-Fri with some flexibility expected as and when required.. These will be to cover our Nursery in Orpington.
This is short-term BANK post with a expected immediate start once all pre-employment checks have been completed
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the daily operation of the nursery, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged 0-5 years.
Manage staffing requirements, including rotas, recruitment, supervision, appraisals, and staff development.
Ensure full compliance with Ofsted requirements, safeguarding standards, and health and safety legislation.
Monitor and manage nursery budgets, resources, and administrative processes.
Develop positive partnerships with parents and carers to support children's learning and development.
Liaise with NHS departments, HR teams, and external safeguarding agencies as required.
Promote high standards of childcare, learning, and wellbeing across the nursery.
Lead on quality improvement initiatives and ensure best practice is maintained at all times.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Essential Requirements
- Level 5 or above qualification in Early Years, Childcare or Leadership Relevant
- Early Years qualification at Level 3 or above.
- Previous experience managing or deputising within a nursery setting.
- Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Experience of Ofsted inspections and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Experience managing staff performance, training, and development
Desirable
- Previous experience within an NHS or healthcare setting.
- Safeguarding Lead training.
- Budget management experience.
- Experience of leading a nursery or large team
- SEND-related training

Experience
Essential criteria
- Level 5 or above qualification in Early Years, Childcare or Leadership
- Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent recognised by Ofsted)
- Safeguarding training
- Paediatric First Aid
- Experience of working with EYFS and Ofsted frameworks
- Knowledge of Ofsted requirements and inspection standards
Desirable criteria
- Experience supporting children with SEND
