Job overview

  • The post holder will be the senior point of contact for the administrative function work in Cellular Pathology office. 
  • Undertaking a senior role in ensuring the general clerical duties are completed in a timely manner. 
  • The post holder will be required to liaise with all grades of staff within the department and to communicate with external users of the service.
  • They will need to work in line with the Trust and Departmental policies and procedures.

Main duties of the job

·         Ensure tasks for the department is completed in a timely manner.

·        To train new and junior staff under the direction of the Service Manager

·         To participate in the Business Continuity Plan for the department.

·         Help facilitate the introduction of new technology and new working practices to ensure the smooth running of the department when appropriate.

·         Escalate issues as needed to the service manager.

·        Line Management responsibility for junior administrative team including the authorisation of annual leave with support from the service manager.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to A-level, or NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration/Customer Care or acquired equivalent experience
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths, grades A-C

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of using full range of IT systems and patient data systems
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Customer Care experience
  • Ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Clear, professional communication
  • Confidence in analysing data or reports
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of supervising staff
  • Proven experience supervising staff
  • Training in leadership or improvement

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels

  • Possess core functional skills of excel (basic formulas, sorting and filtering)
