Job overview
- The post holder will be the senior point of contact for the administrative function work in Cellular Pathology office.
- Undertaking a senior role in ensuring the general clerical duties are completed in a timely manner.
- The post holder will be required to liaise with all grades of staff within the department and to communicate with external users of the service.
- They will need to work in line with the Trust and Departmental policies and procedures.
Main duties of the job
· Ensure tasks for the department is completed in a timely manner.
· To train new and junior staff under the direction of the Service Manager
· To participate in the Business Continuity Plan for the department.
· Help facilitate the introduction of new technology and new working practices to ensure the smooth running of the department when appropriate.
· Escalate issues as needed to the service manager.
· Line Management responsibility for junior administrative team including the authorisation of annual leave with support from the service manager.

Essential criteria
- Educated to A-level, or NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration/Customer Care or acquired equivalent experience
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths, grades A-C
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of using full range of IT systems and patient data systems
- Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
- Customer Care experience
- Ability to motivate and develop a team
- Clear, professional communication
- Confidence in analysing data or reports
Desirable criteria
- Experience of supervising staff
- Proven experience supervising staff
- Training in leadership or improvement
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
