Our mission is to deliver world class care and expertise in our clinical services, underpinned by world class teaching and research and we will continue to measure our progress against our five governing objectives: excellent outcomes, excellent patient and staff experience, excellent value for taxpayers’ money, being safe and meeting our external duties, and building a strong organisation.

Everyone is welcome at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. We're proud of our diversity and we continue to undertake new initiatives to advance equality for LGBT+, BME, gender equality, staff carers and people with disabilities and lived experiences to promote good relations and understanding between our staff.

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality adult nursing care while supporting women, babies, and families in a dynamic maternity and obstetric setting. You will deliver safe, compassionate care, administer medications within your competence, and contribute to pregnancy-related and newborn care within your scope, with support from specialists when needed.

Compassion and communication are at the heart of this role, ensuring patients feel informed, empowered, and cared for at every stage. You will play a key part in maintaining patient safety, driving service improvements, and supporting colleagues and students to reach their potential.

With access to training, development, and opportunities to promote evidence-based practice, you will be encouraged to grow your skills and shape the future of care.

Main duties of the job

Support the provision of a safe perioperative and procedural environment, including assisting with equipment checks and maintenance in collaboration with nursing and medical teams.

Undertake basic newborn care limited to hygiene, feeding assistance, and observation, escalating any concerns promptly to appropriately trained professionals.

Provide care and support to pregnant patients in line with adult nurse competencies, escalating to midwifery services for specialist maternity or obstetric care.

Deliver nursing care for women with complex obstetric conditions requiring enhanced monitoring (e.g., pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, obstetric haemorrhage, sepsis, post-operative complications).

Participate in MDT decision-making regarding changes to patient care plans and prioritisation of surgical lists.

Please see JD and PS attached.
