Main duties of the job

he post holder will provide a specialist psychological therapy service to clients residing in the Lewisham Borough. This includes:

  • Conducting specialist assessments to identify psychological needs.
  • Developing individualized treatment plans, primarily using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
  • Delivering evidence-based interventions and monitoring progress through weekly outcome measures.
  • Ensuring high standards of clinical care and adherence to professional guidelines.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 

  • Provide specialist psychological therapy for clients referred to the NHS Talking Therapies service, integrating complex data from multiple sources, including:
    • Psychological assessments
    • Self-report measures and rating scales
    • Structured observations
  • Deliver at least one NICE-recommended psychological therapy for anxiety disorders and/or depression.
  • Formulate and implement individualized treatment plans based on an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based methods.
  • Monitor treatment progress and outcomes regularly to ensure interventions remain effective and aligned with best practice.

Essential criteria
  • Recognised/accredited postgraduate level training in a psychological therapy as specified in one of the Appendices, specific to job title
  • Professionally registered / accredited or working towards accreditation as specified in the same Appendix, specific to job title
Desirable criteria
  • Additional pre- and/or postqualification training as specific to job title

Experince

Essential criteria
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients within an NHS Talking Therapies service
  • Experience of working with a variety of client groups and presenting problems that reflect a range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of specialist psychological therapy assessment and treatment of clients across a range of care settings relevant to an NHS Talking Therapies service, including outpatient, community, and primary care settings

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Well -developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, and where relevant their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non - professional groups

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • High -level knowledge of the theory and practice of one or more NHS TALKING THERAPIES-recognised psychological therapies.
  • Knowledge of effective care pathway navigation across primary and secondary care psychological therapies services
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of adapting specific NHS Talking Therapies -recognised psychological therapies for anxiety and/or depression in the context of co - morbidity and complexity (e.g. personality disorder, additional disabilities etc).
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
