Cardiac Rehabilitation Exercise Physiologist

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Cardiac Rehabilitation Senior Exercise Specialist to provide Leadership to our team of exercise physiologists and with the MDT develop the cardiac rehabilitation service. 

The post is based at Local community settings in Tower Hamlets & Waltham Forrest

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual, with strong leadership qualities & who is flexible, confident, with a keen interest in Service Development/improvement.

 

Main duties of the job

To Lead on the exercise physiology component - exercise prescription for cardiovascular endurance, exercise and resistance training within a cardiac rehabilitation setting.

 To lead on professional development of B5 cardiac rehabilitation exercise physiologists

To Identify, develop and implement appropriate monitoring systems to enable comprehensive service evaluation of the physical activity / exercise component. Engage in effective partnership working to promote quality, continuity of care and a cost-effective service

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of working with people with cardiac and comorbid populations
  • Experience of leading the development of exercise programmes for people with cardiac conditions & other co-morbidities
  • Experience of leading group education sessions
  • Up to date knowledge of national and local strategies to reduce cardiovascular disease
  • Experience of planning and prioritizing own clinical caseload
Desirable criteria
  • NHS experience in cardiac rehab
  • Knowledge of the research process and willingness to be involved in research related to the service

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to lead and supervise accurate assessments of clinical, anthropometric and functional capacity measurements
  • Ability to support the supervision of and mentor junior staff and students
  • Demonstrated ability to the use of innovative technologies, systems and online applications e.g. mHealth

Knowledge / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BACPR Specialist Exercise Instructor Level 4 Cardiac Qualification (or equivalent)
  • MSc in sport and exercise sciences or related field
  • AHCS registration as a CEP annually maintained
  • Defibrillation/AED &basic life support
Desirable criteria
  • Motivational interviewing Leadership training
