Locum Consultant in ENT Surgery

Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant in Ear Nose and Throat in General ENT (adult and paediatric) to join the team of Consultants in the ENT team at Whipps Cross Hospital. This is a 6 month fixed term post, with opportunity to extend for 12 months.
The post holder will be involved in the delivery of the ENT service provided at Whipps Cross Hospital. Part of the team covering the hospitals non-elective and elective patients across the day case, inpatient, benign and cancer specialities. Candidates will be provided with great opportunities and facilities to develop their careers and interests.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate commitment to teamwork with colleagues, develop clinical care pathways in the overall management of ENT patients and assist in teaching and research in the department. The postholder will participate in an on-call rota of 1:8 weekdays and 1:21 weekends.

Essential criteria
- Essential FRCS (ORL – HNS) or equivalent
Registration

- On GMC registered Medical Practitioner
- GMC specialist registration
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential criteria
- I.T. skills and computer literacy.
Desirable criteria
- NHS experience in the last 3 years
Specialty/Sub-Specialty
Essential criteria
- Broad-based training in ENT and its subspecialties.
- Broad-based general professional training in general medicine
Training and Teaching
Essential criteria
- Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of ongoing interest and achievement in research
Management and Audit
Essential criteria
- Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
- Understanding the principles of clinical governance and its implications
- Understanding and experience of audit
