We are recruiting for an experienced neonatal intensive care sister/charge nurse to join our friendly and supportive team at the Newham University Hospital.

Learn to develop your skills and increase your knowledge by becoming an experienced tertiary level neonatal nurse, caring for a range of sick neonates from both the extreme prematurity to term gestation, providing surgical and medical interventions to maintain these precious tiny lives.

Essential criteria
- Good level of skill in computer usage – able to use NHS data bases, input data and retrieve information.
- Awareness of current issues and reforms in the NHS and neonatal services.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to undertake further training as required
- Desire for service improvement and efficiencies.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of good budgetary control and efficient use of resources.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (Children or Adult) with valid NMC PIN
- Post-registration qualification in Neonatal Care (e.g., QIS or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- Neonatal Life Support
- Mentorship/Practice Assessor qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post-registration experience within a neonatal setting
- Leadership or supervisory experience
Desirable criteria
- Experience of leading shifts or acting up in a senior role
- Experience in quality improvement or audit projects
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Monitor and manage the newborn’s health status, including vital signs, feeding, and growth patterns
- Administer medications, treatments, or interventions as prescribed by the medical team
- Proven professional competence
Desirable criteria
- Awareness of research and audit
- Evidence of continuing education in relevant field of practice.
