Exciting opportunities have arisen at the Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust for dynamic, innovative, committed and skilled individuals for 12E. 12E Ward is a 24 bedded ward (with 12 bedded Monitored Unit) managing Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Head and Neck patients. The ward is based at Royal London Hospital and is seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated band 5 Nurses to join our fabulous team of nurses.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone to develop  their Neuroscience skills. We are focused on improving quality for our patients, their carers/families and for our staff.

We welcome all nurses, including newly qualified, to this exciting and rewarding area, to work alongside our more experienced colleagues, to gain knowledge and skills. Our patient group is very diverse, with complex cases, as well as routine and emergency neurosurgery/ neurology , head and neck and max fax.

We offer a wide range of learning opportunities including in-house training as well as the Neuroscience and High Dependency Course. We have Neurotrauma and Spinal Clinical Nurse Specialists who offer their knowledge and experience to enhance your learning and experience.

Main duties of the job

We nurse highly acute patients, including those with tracheostomy, unstable spinal injury and major head injury, whilst making sure we provide an excellent standard of fundamental nursing care. It is challenging and enormously rewarding. The team is inclusive and supportive and is often described as being like a family...a very big one!

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic nurses at band 5 level. We want staff who relish the challenge of working in Neuroscience and Head and Neck, who are keen to develop and enhance their clinical skills. A flexible team-player, you will have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate evidence of professional development. If you would like to be part of a team leading the field in Neurosciences and Head and Neck then this is the role for you.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This post offers an important role in the care and management of patients in an acute setting to provide patient centred care whilst ensuring a the smooth running of 12E. The Staff Nurse will be expected to enhance the well-being and promote the health of patients in Neurosurgery, Neurology ,
ENT and Head and Neck.

We aim to provide a first class and a safe level of care to patients and their relatives, whilst ensuring that the patient pathway is recorded and monitored throughout treatment.

The nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate priorities of care and utilise available resources inan effective manner.
