Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a dynamic, dedicated Consultant Obstetrician with a special interest in maternal medicine to join the expanding Women’s Health team at Newham University Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking, patient-centred service within one of the UK’s most diverse communities.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to provide high-quality care in both general obstetrics and gynaecology.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the obstetric and gynaecological care for women with an interest in emergency gynaecology and early pregnancy and other related conditions, ensuring the delivery of patient-centred care.
· Provide clinical expertise in the management of complex cases involving early pregnancy, including ultrasound scanning.
· Contribute to the education and training of junior doctors, medical students, and other multidisciplinary team members.
· Collaborate with the gynaecological team across sites in Barts Health to provide comprehensive care to patients with early pregnancy issues.
· Ensure high standards of clinical governance, quality control, and safety in all aspects of the service.
Participate in regular audits, departmental meetings, and clinical governance

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- ATSM/SITM in Complex early pregnancy and non-elective gynaecology (CEPNG) or equivalent.
- Competent in Early Pregnancy Scanning.
Desirable criteria
- Diploma in Early Pregnancy Ultrasound
Experience
Essential criteria
- Wide experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Desirable criteria
- Quality improvement projects and/or research related to Obstetrics / Gynaecology
- Experience of the UK healthcare system
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- An understanding of Clinical Governance and its application to Obstetrics.
- Record of Completed audit projects
Desirable criteria
- NHS complaint handling
- Risk management Training
- Critical incident reporting
