Job overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Band 7 Highly Specialist Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist to join our senior therapies team at Newham University Hospital. The successful candidate will lead the operational delivery of the MSK outpatient service, managing a complex caseload and providing specialist physiotherapy assessments and treatments for patients with acute, chronic, or complex musculoskeletal conditions. Working autonomously and within a multi-disciplinary team, you will play a key role in service development, quality improvement, and clinical supervision of junior staff and students. You will also support administrative teams, contribute to training programmes, and ensure compliance with professional and organisational standards. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering patient-centred, evidence-based care that aligns with our WECARE values.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 7 Highly Specialist MSK Physiotherapist, you will provide advanced clinical assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for a diverse outpatient caseload. You will utilise expert clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice to develop individualised treatment plans, incorporating manual therapy, exercise programmes, education, and other interventions. You will supervise and mentor junior physiotherapists, assistants, and students, supporting their development through formal appraisals and clinical supervision. You will lead on service evaluation, audit, and quality improvement initiatives, contributing to service redesign where necessary. Additionally, you will collaborate with consultants, nursing, and allied health professionals across Barts Health sites, ensuring seamless patient care. You will maintain accurate clinical records, adhere to infection control policies, manage departmental workflows, and participate in cross-site training and service development activities.
