Are you a registered nurse passionate about public health and maternity care?
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and compassionate Band 5 registered Nurse to join our Maternity Immunisation Team at The Royal London Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust—one of the busiest and most diverse maternity services in the UK.
This is an ideal post for a nurse seeking to develop or strengthen their career in public health nursing, particularly in the area of antenatal and new-born care. You will play a key role in supporting the implementation of national screening and immunisation programs that promote the health and wellbeing of pregnant women, babies, and their families
Main duties of the job
You will work closely with the Band 6 Clinical Lead for Maternity Immunisation Team and the Band 7 Lead Midwife for Antenatal and New-born Screening to:
· Assist in the delivery of the maternal immunisation program (pertussis, influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccines)
· Promote awareness and uptake of antenatal and newborn screening services
· Provide evidence-based advice, support, and education to women and their families
· Support and educate midwifery and maternity staff around immunisation procedures and best practice
· Help improve health equity and access to public health services across our diverse population
· You’ll be a vital part of our multidisciplinary team, committed to improving maternal and neonatal outcomes and addressing health inequalities in East London.

- NMC-registered nurse with a strong interest in public health and maternity care.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience or training in immunisation (or willingness to complete training upon appointment).
Desirable criteria
- Previous exposure to immunisation or screening programmes is desirable but not essential
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Good understanding of the public health agenda within maternity services
- Knowledge of screening and immunisation programmes for pregnant women and neonates
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection in healthcare
- Awareness of clinical governance and its importance in community nursing practice
- Understanding of professional accountability and nursing standards
Desirable criteria
- An understanding of health inequalities and a commitment to reducing barriers to access
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice and commitment to applying it in clinical care
