Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated senior medicines management pharmacy assistant to join the medicines management pharmacy team at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
The key focus of this role is to provide safe and secure stock control across pharmacy, wards, and clinical areas on the St Bartholomew’s site. The post holder will provide an efficient and effective administrative service, operational and finance support, as well as undertaking project work to enhance the service. 
This is a full-time permanent role based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, working 37.5hours per week Monday to Friday, and including 1 in 5 weekends. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will rotate throughout the various clinical areas and support in a patient facing role where you will be given the opportunity to undertake the Medicines Optimisation Programme and support patients making the most of their medicines.
The post holder will be expected to work with minimal day to day supervision, using their initiative and being proactive when issues arise. Regular communication within the team needs to be maintained in relation to 
working practices, procedures, and changes. A good working relationship with colleagues and other healthcare staff needs to be fostered and always maintained.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE grades A -C or 4-9 • English Language • Maths • Double Science
  • BTEC Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff
Desirable criteria
  • HEE Medicines Optimisation programme or equivalent ie competent to assess PODS and transcribe and order from drug charts

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in customer care environment
  • Experience of working in a pharmacy team
  • Demonstrable stock management experience
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a hospital environment
  • Experience of training others

Skills

Essential criteria
  • IT skills; Able to use Excel and Word proficiently
  • Able to plan own work and the supervision of others in a clear and organised way
