Pre-Packing Senior Pharmacy Technician: Band 5

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team as a Senior Pharmacy Technician at the Pre-Packing Unit (PSU) located within Whipps Cross Hospital, part of the Pharmacy Technical Services (PTS).

PTS is a licensed manufacturing unit with three sites: Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, and Whipps Cross Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all operational activities within the Pre-Packing area at Whipps Cross Hospital. This includes assisting with scheduling and planning of materials management, GMP inspection and labelling, assembly, repacking, and overall materials management. The post holder will also be tasked with ensuring that all work is scheduled, and documentation is kept current and updated in a timely manner, in compliance with MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) audits and internal reviews.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

·         Hold a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or an equivalent qualification.

·         Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BTEC level 3 Diploma in Principles and practice for pharmacy technicians.
  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician.
Desirable criteria
  • Practice Supervisor, Train the trainer or equivalent qualification
  • ILM Level 3 Leadership and Management qualification or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience within a GMP facility and proven experience working as a pharmacy technician.
  • Experience in supervision of staff or training role.
  • Use of Datix incident reporting system or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of GPhC Revalidation requirements.
  • Up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice, e.g. controlled drugs, Health and Safety at Work
  • Demonstrate practical knowledge of all aspects of GMP and QA.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of COSHH and Health and Safety at work.
  • Knowledge of Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines requirements.
  • A good understanding of patient safety initiatives
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legislation for Pre-packing (GMP).
