Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To undertake a variety of rotations (orthopaedics, respiratory and acute assessment ward, stroke/ elderly/ neuro rehabilitation wards, Musculo-Skeletal Outpatients, Community Therapy Team) in order to provide a broad base for both personal and professional development.
This will involve working in a number of settings including care homes, residential units, patient homes, hospital wards, special schools, mainstream schools, clinics and may involve up to 6 locations at any one time.

Essential criteria

Current AHP with UK HCPC registration
Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy

Desirable criteria

Relevant post graduate training

Experience

Essential criteria

Placements whilst Student, broad range of clinical placements as undergraduate
Evidence of up to date CPD
Experience of working as part of an MDT
Use of functional assessment and activity analysis.

Desirable criteria

Evidence of previous employment as a Physiotherapist, apprentice, assistant
Experience of delegation to support staff

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria

Knowledge of current best practice in Physiotherapy, demonstrate clinical reasoning, applying theory to practice
Ability to work single-handedly with individuals and groups
Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice
Adherence to national, professional and work related policy
Health, safety and risk awareness
Demonstrates an understanding of clinical governance and its implications for the profession
Basic knowledge of health legislation and current practice, risk assessment and management

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.

ADOS Autism Assessor for Children and Young People, based in our Exeter clinic
