Speech and Language Therapist - Adults, Community, Camden

NHS AfC: Band 5

CNWL (Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust) has almost 8,000 staff providing integrated healthcare to a third of London's population, Milton Keynes and areas beyond.  We involve service users, carers, the public, staff and partner organisations in the way that we are run.

Our catchment area spans diverse communities, with over 100 first languages spoken. It contains areas of great affluence as well as areas of much deprivation.  We are committed to providing services that meet the needs of the people who use them, and we actively encourage involvement from local people who can help make a difference.  We’re proud of our diversity and we continue to undertake new initiatives to advance equality for LGBT+, BME and people with disabilities to promote good relations and understanding between our staff.

We are recognised locally, nationally and internationally for providing high quality, innovative healthcare. We aim to employ only the best people, and our experts are frequently called upon to contribute to national health strategy and policy, and many models of our care have been adapted for use in other countries.

We offer a generous relocation package (subject to eligibility assessment) and flexible working options, including bank assignments for most roles.  For more information on these and other benefits of working for us, see our   Benefits, Reward and Wellbeing page

Become part of our team. We care for you as much as you care for others.

CNWL NHS Foundation Trust are committed to safeguarding all children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We follow safe recruitment practices to protect children and vulnerable adults.

Job overview

Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) – Adult Community, Camden (Band 5)

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary community rehabilitation team.  Our office base is in St Pancras Hospital (close to the amenities and transport links of Kings Cross, Euston and Camden), and we see patients in the community across Camden, which is a vibrant and diverse inner London borough.

Main duties of the job

You will join our Camden Neurology and Stroke Service – a well-established, highly-respected and supportive team comprising speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, and rehabilitation assistants.  You will be committed to providing a goal-focused, evidence-based service to adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.

Working for our organisation

You will have a stimulating varied caseload and gain broad clinical experience working across multiple community pathways.  The role offers a valuable opportunity to develop and consolidate skills working with patients from: Early Supported Discharge (post-acute stroke), Neurorehab (stroke, head injury, progressive neuro), Palliative Care, and a range of other long-term conditions affecting communication and/or swallowing (eg dementia, COPD).  You will join at an exciting time where we are developing Camden’s new Integrated Neighbourhood Team model to offer more holistic support to residents as described in the NHS Ten Year Plan.

You may also have the opportunity to gain additional experience on the in-patient wards within St Pancras Rehabilitation Unit (neurology, multi-pathology and disability management).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This post will suit a Speech and Language Therapist looking to develop and consolidate skills working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.  You will bring robust relevant clinical experience from your current / NQP role(s).  You will be well-supported by a stable, compassionate, supportive and flexible team of SLTs (B6-B8a).  You will also gain valuable peer support and learning opportunities working closely alongside our wonderful multidisciplinary colleagues.

We always welcome informal discussions and/or visits from potential applicants.  Please contact Chris Emsley, Speech and Language Therapists, on 020-33173309.

We plan to hold interviews on May 1st 2026.
