Job overview

We are looking for a motivated, flexible and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary community rehabilitation team.

You will be committed to providing a goal-focused, evidence-based, specialist service to adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties. 

Working for our organisation

You will join our Camden Neurology and Stroke Service – a well-established and highly respected multidisciplinary team comprising speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, and rehabilitation assistants.  

Our office base is in St Pancras Hospital (close to the amenities and transport links of Kings Cross, Euston and Camden), and we see patients in the community across Camden, which is a vibrant and diverse London borough.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will have a stimulating varied caseload working across multiple care pathways – Early Supported Discharge (for stroke), Neurology rehabilitation (for patients with a broad range of neurological diagnoses), Integrated Community Healthcare (for patients with other long-term conditions affecting communication and/or swallowing eg dementia, COPD), and Palliative Care.

You will have supervisory responsibilities which can include: B6 speech and language therapists, multidisciplinary rehabilitation assistants, and students. 

You will demonstrate clinical leadership and service development including e.g. engaging in quality improvement projects; and teaching to a broad range of stakeholder services.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification
  • Registered with the Health Professions Council as a Speech and Language Therapist
  • Registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists

Experience

Essential criteria
  • working at a specialist level with people with neurological disorder
  • Carrying out evidence based audit and research projects
  • Working in multidisciplinary/multiagency teams
  • Working in the community
  • Supervision of students/support workers
