Service Director, Health & Justice

We are looking to appoint a Service Director who is highly motivated, imaginative and business focused to lead, develop and enhance services within our Health & Justice Settings.
The post holder will work closely and be jointly accountable with the Clinical Director.
We provide for a highly diverse population and employ a very diverse workforce. Listening to the community for coproduction of services is a touchstone for the trust.
The post offers excellent opportunities for personal and professional development. A commitment to fully involve service users is an essential part of the role.
We are looking for someone who has a proven track-record in the delivery of large-scale multi-centre healthcare services. The successful candidate will embody our values of compassion, respect, empowerment and partnership, has a wealth of experience and passion for operational delivery, is a visible and approachable leader and has excellent business acumen.

- Professional Qualification and/or relevant qualification such as a degree in management and leadership (A)
- Evidence of ongoing professional development particularly in leadership (A)
- Post Graduate Degree in Leadership or equivalent years of experience (A)

- A relevant professional qualification
Previous Experience

- Significant senior operational experience, managing services at scale in a relevant health & Justice/ Forensic setting
- Extensive recent senior management experience in a health and social care setting
- Significant experience of managing complex service transformation, resulting in improvements to patient care
- A track record of maintaining staff engagement through complex change processes
- Demonstrable experience of effective partnership working with other organisations at a very senior level
- Experience of involving service users and carers in service redesign and improvement
- A track record of successful management of substantial budgets with evidence of improving financial performance
- Evidence of achieving demonstrable improvements in the quality of service provision
- Evidence of taking personal responsibility in contributing to developing an organisation’s vision and strategic goals for modernisation and reform and in gaining support for this at all levels both internally and externally
- Experience in prison and/or forensic services

- Specific experience of service provision in an offender care setting
- Negotiated sub- contracts with other providers
- Experience of tendering for new services (A)
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

- Working knowledge and understanding of present health and wider policy in relation to services provided by the Directorate and expectations of stakeholders
- Good understanding of relevant primary, community and mental healthcare needs of people in detention settings.
- Understanding of negotiation processes and ability to lead or contribute in contract negotiation
- Excellent understanding of NHS Quality agenda and regulation
- Ability to manage within budget achieving targets under difficult conditions balancing resources and priorities
