Assistant Pathway Coordinator
(Head and Neck - ENT, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Restorative Dentistry and Orthodontics)
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive individual to develop their administrations skills and work within a busy Team.
You will work as the point of contact for all administrative issues relating to patient's pathway of care, working alongside Consultants and administrative colleagues.
The Assistant Pathway Coordinator provides administrative support to ensure patients progress smoothly through outpatient, diagnostic and treatment pathways. Working as part of the wider administrative team, the post holder undertakes data entry; paying attention to detail and accuracy, supports ad-hoc appointment booking and scheduling, prepares clinic documentation and correspondence, and responds to routine patient and staff enquiries in line with agreed procedures.
The role follows standard operating procedures and established escalation routes. The post holder will use judgement to prioritise tasks, manage competing deadlines, and flag discrepancies or potential delays (e.g., missing information, outcomes not recorded, incomplete referrals), escalating issues appropriately to support timely pathway progression and data quality.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the effective administrative management of patient pathways across the relevant CBU (i.e. outpatient and elective services). Working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, they will ensure high levels of patient and clinician satisfaction by being an accessible, customer focused and knowledgeable point of contact.
The post holder will act as a key administrative contact for patients and staff, supporting accurate data entry, coordination of appointments, and proactive tracking of RTT pathways. They will follow Standard Operating Procedures and work closely with clinical and administrative colleagues to ensure high-quality, patient-centred service delivery.
