Do you want to help us transform NHS diagnostic genetic services?  We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic scientist funded by the NIHR Great Ormond Street Biomedical Research Centre to join our team based in the North Thames Genomic Laboratory. Our team is delivering transformation in patient care by using circulating cell free DNA to develop new approaches for safer prenatal diagnosis, pipelines for rapid, comprehensive diagnosis of paediatric conditions such as early onset epilepsy using whole genome sequencing and utilising long read sequencing technologies to transform clinical services. In addition, as one of the biggest recruiters to the 100,000 Genomes study, we are now exploring new approaches to identify causative variants in unsolved cases.

 If you are committed to contributing to a team delivering excellence in research in genomics and would like to gain experience in translational research this is definitely the post for you. This Band 7 post is available immediately, funded until 30^th November 2027. You will be joining an enthusiastic, friendly, motivated multidisciplinary team working closely with the Clinical Scientific and Bioinformatics team. This is an ideal opportunity to contribute to the translation of research into clinical practice for the benefit of our patients. This post is suitable for research or postdoctoral scientists wanting to explore the exciting area of translational research, or registered clinical scientists who want to broaden their horizons with more research experience. It’s a great chance to experience working in an expert translational research environment based in a thriving Genomic Laboratory Hub closely affiliated to the academic environment of the UCL GOS Institute of Child Health. Hybrid working is supported, however, after the probation period a minimum of 40% on site working is required.
