Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Dental Nurse to join our Outpatient team at Homerton. This role would suit a qualified dental nurse with previous experience in either theatres or a dental practice setting, who is passionate about delivering safe and high-quality patient care.
The post holder will be:

Managerially accountable to the Outpatient Charge Nurse and line-managed by the Team Leader.
-
Professionally linked to the Maxillofacial (Max Fax) team, including supporting the assessment and monitoring of clinical competencies.
In addition to supporting the Max Fax/dental clinics, the successful candidate will also be required to assist the wider Outpatient team during audit days, clinic cancellations, and other service needs.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and dynamic team, develop specialist skills, and play an important role in improving patient experience within Outpatients.
Main duties of the job
· > To provide chair/trolley side and first support assistance to the respective consultants in Maxillofacial/Oral/Theatres and their teams.
· > To assist and maintain high quality efficient and effective care of post operative patients.
· >Work as part of a team to maintain a clean and safe theatre environment for patients and staff.
· > Participate in the development of self and others.

Essential criteria
- N.E.B.D.N National Certificate/ Hospital Proficiency Certificate. N.V.Q Level 3 Oral Health
- Dental chairside assistance experience in a range of patient care treatments
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of own professional code of conduct and guidelines issued by the GDC, ensuring they are always adhered to
- Be flexible and enthusiastic. • Be able to work as part of a team and on own initiative. • Be approachable and kind.
- GDC Registration
- Evidence of reflective practice, demonstrating the link between theory and practice.
- Be able to treat patients, their families and/or carers with empathy, compassion, dignity, and respect
- Good IT skills
- Ability to work under instruction, show initiative by prioritising workload and be adaptable
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to work within scope of practice and escalate appropriately
- Understanding of Infection Prevention Control within theatres

Desirable criteria
- Evidence of further professional qualification
- Experience working in an OMFS secondary care environment
- Have experience using electronic patient recording systems and/or scan for safety.
