Band 4

Advert

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our outpatient physiotherapy Team as a Band 4 Therapy Assistant.

The post involves supporting qualified Physiotherapists in group exercise classes. You will also see patients for exercise individually in our gyms following referral from a physiotherapist.

You must have experience and an understanding of musculoskeletal rehabilitation/sports rehabilitation/exercise classes and be keen to develop these knowledge and skills as a Therapy Assistant.

You will also play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of the department, through non-patient facing tasks, so will need excellent organisational and administrative skills.

This post will give you the opportunity to work with qualified Physiotherapists and you will gain experience rehabilitating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a department committed to continuing education and training. Several previous holders of this post have used the experience gained here, to secure places on Physiotherapy undergraduate training courses.

Please note this post is not suitable for those who already hold a Physiotherapy qualification or are awaiting a Physiotherapy qualification.

Candidates who use AI in their applications may be rejected.

Shortlisted candidates must complete an online written test to progress to a face to face  interview.

Main duties of the job

You will also be involved with non-clinical and administrative tasks such as organising appointments, keeping the department safe, clean and tidy, ordering/organising and maintaining clinical stock, equipment, recording and auditing patient statistics you have collected in exercise classes.

Duties will include:

  • Working with musculoskeletal patients from a variety of age groups and backgrounds, some of whom have never exercised before
  • Support group based rehabilitation for patients with musculoskeletal conditions under the guidance of Physiotherapists
  • Run exercises classes for patients in our gyms such as osteoarthritis knee,  lower and upper limb rehab classes
  • Carry out delegated 1:1 exercises with clients in the departmental gym (unless otherwise indicated), independently or with a Physiotherapist
  • Adapt, modify, progress and evaluate exercises prescribed by a Physiotherapist
  • Independently record clinical records on our electronic record system
  • Independently prescribe walking aids and simple splints
  • Support admin team to ensure Physiotherapy groups and classes are booked and outcome measures collected
  • Ensure clinical equipment is always clean, serviced regularly, well maintained
  • Maintain stock levels and expiry dates
  • Order single use clinical items such as resistance bands and walking aids
  • Ensure department is well presented and tidy
  • Complete Homerton support staff care certificate
