Job overview
Several exciting opportunities for Radiographer roles have become available within the Breast Services Department, based at Charing Cross Hospital. The redeveloped Breast Imaging service will be responsible for symptomatic and follow up imaging for the Breast Services pathways, including 2D and 3D mammography, stereo biopsies, CEM and CEM biopsies.
Internal applications are invited from HCPC registered Radiographers with significant breast imaging experience and holding the post graduate certificate in Mammography (UK).
This is an onsite and full-time role, with voluntary weekend shifts aligned with service needs. Successful post holders will report directly to the Breast Superintendent Radiographer.

Main duties of the job
This busy service will require all Radiographers -
- to work independently on a rotational basis through both the CXH and SMH units
- to be confident cannulating and using an electronic injector, with training provided for those who have not cannulated previously.
- to perform stereo biopsies at both the SMH and CXH units, and at times performing stereo biopsy imaging independently as sole radiographer at both units.
- to work flexibly as sole radiographer in clinics out of hours and at busy times, both at the CXH and SMH units.
- once trained, to rotate through PACS duties, and perform basic PACS tasks during clinic times to ensure the smooth running of clinics.
- to participate in QA and QMS programmes.
- to take responsibility for B7 level assigned additional duties such as RPS, QA, H&S, Fire Warden, PE and other tasks.
- to maintain the required level of physical fitness to perform the role.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc in Radiography/Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent
- Current HPC registration
- Postgraduate award or Certificate of Competence in Mammography
Desirable criteria
- Up to date CPD folder with relevant mammography evidence
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant postgraduate experience
- Must be able to demonstrate ongoing CPD
- Must be able to demonstrate understanding & knowledge of current techniques and equipment
Desirable criteria
- To have relevant experience
- Proof of extended radiographic roles
- Involvement in Quality Management Systems
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential criteria
- Understanding of IR(ME)R
- Be able to perform mammography within a specified time constraint
- Able to work under pressure
- Analytical & evaluation skills
- Dexterity & co-ordination for positioning patients
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of breast disease and the NHS Breast Screening Programme
- Supervisory skills
- Knowledge of EXCEL
