Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivate and hardworking nurse to join our exciting research team at Imperial Clinical Respiratory Research Unit who are currently supporting a clinical research including Phase 2a trials. The post offers an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who has a wish to further develop their nursing career within the dynamic area of Respiratory Research. The appointee will have the opportunity to work with a team specialising in respiratory conditions such as Asthma and COPD. The research portfolio includes an exciting range of commercial and academic clinical research studies. The clinical research studies include a focus on Phase 2a clinical trials in the tesing of new innovative drugs. You will have regular contact and support from a small team of closely involved Principal Investigators, and will work closely with the team looking after the clinical care of these patients. This will include interactions with a commercial contract research organisation that helps to manage the clinical trials on behalf of the sponsor. We are an enthusiastic, welcoming and dynamic team.
Main duties of the job
- To facilitate efficient, safe and participant-focused research.
- To contribute to the management of the local portfolio of clinical research studies.
- The key focus is to cover asthma and COPD studies and research bronchoscopies.
- Advises staff and researchers, acting as a knowledgeable resource on matters relating to clinical practice and research, promoting an active and effective research culture.
- To co-ordinate the care of your own caseload of clinical research study participants.
- To contribute to the development of research protocols.
- To assist in the process of gaining local regulatory committee approval (ethics and R&D approval).
- Continue your own professional development keeping updated with current practice.
- To assist in the education and support of health care professionals to enable them to care for clinical research study patients/participants.

- Has attained or is working towards a Degree/ Certificate/Diploma in management/ professional nursing issues.

- Relevant experience at band 5 within a relevant speciality. Experience of supervision of junior staff, SLICE or equivalent experience For specialist areas able to demonstrate specialist knowledge of patient group Knowledge of research and audit Evidence of continuing professional development
- Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- Ability to demonstrate application of the NHS Plan to own sphere of practice.
