They are looking to appoint a motivated and experienced Finance Manager to help shape the financial strategy of their clinical services, working closely with senior operational and clinical leaders.

Main duties of the job

As a Finance Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting a portfolio of directorates, acting as the primary finance lead for your area. Backed by a supportive team including a Deputy Finance Manager and Management Accountant, you will lead on:

  • Month-end analysis and reporting
  • Forecasting and business planning
  • Driving productivity and efficiency
  • Financial modelling and investment appraisals
  • Advising on financial decision-making at a senior level

You’ll be a key member of the divisional leadership team, helping to navigate financial challenges and deliver sustainable, high-quality care. This is more than just a numbers role — it’s about building strong partnerships and making a real impact.

  • CCAB qualified accountant or equivalent qualification
  • Degree level qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of CPD

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within the NHS or similar sized organisation
  • Experience of translating complex data from various systems into a clear and comprehensive financial model
  • Experience of computerised accounting financial systems
  • Experience in accounting e.g. Processing journals
  • Experience of reconciling control accounts
  • Experience in accounting policies e.g. IFRS
  • Business and capacity planning linked to forecasting
  • Advanced experience of using Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Working effectively and efficiently in a fast-changing environment
  • Experience in working with minimal supervision
  • Experience of manging people
  • Experience of implementing change
  • Ability to work with staff at all levels, with specific ability to work with senior teams
  • Experience of investigation and analysis into financial issues including evidence of detailed and precise report writing skills
  • Experience of dealing with multiple stakeholders with conflicting priorities
