Job overview
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic health care assistant, either experienced or new in the field. You will be proactive in learning and will be supported by an experienced team of senior nurses and clinical practice educators.
Paterson ward is the place for you if you enjoy working in a surgical setting. We comprise of a 14 bedded ward, a day case unit with recovery and the Surgical assessment unit. Staff get rotated within the three areas. Our patients come from diverse specialities like general surgery, vascular, orthopaedics and trauma. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in all of the above areas.
Main duties of the job
• To support the ward team in providing a comprehensive, high quality, efficient service to our patients.
• Using various methods of communication to colleagues and patients at all levels and ensuring that responses are timely, accurate and appropriate.
• To carry out any reasonable support task as requested by the ward team.
• To highlight or raise concerns relating to equipment, patient safety or otherwise to the Nurse in charge or Matron.

Essential criteria
- QCF Level 3 in Health or equivalent
- Able to speak and write English to an appropriate standard to fulfil the job requirements
Desirable criteria
- Venepuncture and cannulation
Experience

- Up to date experience; worked within an acute care setting within the last 18 months
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in a surgical ward
